Abstract :
Using the FM gain and a new type of FM laser, we have demonstrated a very high performance RF-lightwave transmitter. Very high FM efficiency is measured (at the order of 200 GHz/V). More than 10 dB RF link gain is obtained at an optical power of only -2.3 dBm. The power dependency of the FM efficiency and FM gain is observed. Spur-free dynamic range is measured at different frequencies. To provide this type of transmitter at low cost, it is possible to integrate the FM laser and the demodulator in a chip
