Abstract :
This paper presents an improved multi-band excitation linear predictive (IMBELP) vocoder at 2.4 kb/s. Compared with a simple MBELP vocoder, this vocoder has some improvements on pitch estimation and unvoiced/voiced (U/V) decision. The synthesized speech of IMBELP vocoder is also better than that of simple MBELP vocoder. After an introduction, the IMBELP vocoder is discussed in detail. The results of pitch estimation and U/V decision based on the IMBELP are compared with those based on simple MBELP
