Abstract :
This paper describes a new motion estimation algorithm using low bit-resolution edge image in block matching. Combined with other fast algorithms such as hierarchical sub-sampled telescopic search, the algorithm greatly reduces hardware cost and keeps encoding quality. Compared with conventional bit-resolution algorithms, the proposed algorithm can not only reduce the computational complexity, but also improve encoding efficiency
