Abstract :
With the progress of the IT industry, broadband networks have become available. The provision of broadband application services becomes an urgent task for network experts. Currently no solution that synthesizes a Web database and real-time multimedia transmission to construct a large multimedia information system has ever been found. We present our design of a new system named the Multimedia Information Service Center (MISC) that the synthesizes technology of real-time streaming over IP network and a Web database. The MISC provides single and simple access to a large multimedia information database system. The OAM of the MISC and access to multimedia information is realized through a simple operation using a user-friendly Web interface. The MISC can be applied in providing VOD, network radio, network TV, on-line education and other multimedia information services over the IP network
