Abstract :
3D acceleration of real time graphics rendering is very important in virtual reality applications. Levels of detail are used in most complex rendering system. A simple, fast, and effective polygon reduction algorithm based on edge collapse is presented in this paper, which utilizes the “minimal cost” method to calculate a set of LODs, to get real time rendering of 3D virtual environment on PC system
