Abstract :
This paper presents a sequentially operated multirate filter bank for optimal reconstruction. It is shown that the proposed filter bank has a structure equivalent to a sequentially operated periodic filter. The proposed filter bank consists of an analysis filter and a synthesis filter, either of which contains a single-input single-output (SISO) FIR filter with periodically time varying coefficients and a sequentially operated multi-channel sampling scheme. The sequentially operated multirate filter bank can offer considerable improvements in computation and implementation. It also enables linear system methods to be applied to the the filter bank design for optimal reconstruction
