Abstract :
In railway traction systems an important source of electromagnetic interference are the static power converters of the electrical supply substation (ESS) and the locomotive propulsion drives and auxiliary systems. The voltage distortion on the catenary is analysed considering the system operating conditions and in particular locomotive position. This work considers the variability of the line impedance at the pantograph terminals due to the random position of the locomotive along the track of a DC railway traction system. A formulation of line voltage waves is presented and evaluated for the case of two locomotives on the line section between two ESS
