Abstract :
A 3D scene measurement method called “adaptive light projection and highlight analysis” (ALPHA) is presented in this paper. Light patterns are modified adaptively according to the result of the analysis of an image for obtaining more 3D data from the next image. A measurement system is designed for the ALPHA method. It can simulate any light pattern projection method based on a single light projector. A measurement algorithm called SPIKE is developed for the ALPHA method. It works well for static scenes and dynamic scenes if the view changes smoothly. Even if the view changes abruptly, 3D data can still be obtained correctly. An experiment is performed, and the result indicates the effectiveness of the algorithm
