Abstract :
The paper focuses on some difficulties in performing the CAC (connection admission control) function in the case of an ATM tactical network with wireless access points controlled by a dynamic TDMA (time division multiplex access) class protocol. The medium access protocol assumed for the purposes of this paper is MEDIAN. Specific characteristics of this protocol, like frame structure, different handling of up and down allowable bandwidth limitations (overheads, guard time, error protection redundancy...) lead to a review of the recognised approach (Roberts et al. 1996) for the admission control. In the paper a conservative method for performing the CAC, with distinguishing between up and down calls, is proposed. This method is based on the declaration about the PCR (peak cell rate) only. The exemplary numerical results are included
