Abstract
The smart wireless LAN (SWL) system integrates a smart antenna system with the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) standard to enable multiple WLAN users to transmit simultaneously in the frequency band. Dynamic slot algorithms are used by SWL to improve the transmission quality and maximize capacity by selecting users for time slots based on their unique spatial signatures. This paper presents an improved beamforming technique and an upgraded computer simulation that has significantly upgraded the SWL dynamic slot algorithms. The simulation results, showing the advantages and disadvantages of the various algorithms studied, are presented and analyzed. The improved beam forming algorithm (MSINR) is also presented and evaluated.
