Abstract
The new efficiency standards impose high values for efficiency and power factor even for low power electric drives. This paper presents a low power permanent magnet synchronous machines derived from a brushless direct current machine. The machine has a asymmetrical construction used in BLDC construction, but the interest was to apply this type of construction to a permanent magnet synchronous machine.
