Abstract :
The gain-bandwidth performance (GBP) of a distributed amplifier (DA) comprising transmission lines (TL) is analyzed and compared to the GBP of a DA comprising lumped inductances. It is shown that the lumped element DA has the best performance. In addition to this, if the physical length of the TL is below a critical value, the GBP is almost constant, but above this critical value it degrades rapidly
