Abstract :
The work introduces a method for ISAR image compression based on the geometric phase decomposition. Complex 2D radar data can be compressed in cross-range (Doppler frequency) dimension several times without significant image smearing and without loss of phase information. With the help of joint time-frequency analysis, target motion can still be recovered from the compressed image. For a stepped-frequency ISAR an image with a given compression ratio can be obtained directly as a portion of radar time-history series without any additional processing
