Abstract :
In this paper, a subclass of nonlinear filters: Extended Dimensional Threshold (EDT) Filtering is proposed and its properties are investigated. While the EDT filter is composed only of a linear FIR filter and threshold operations, it contains several median type nonlinear filters as a subclass. Furthermore, it contains linear FIR filter exactly without exchanging average operation for median operation
