Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to present a methodology for rapid prototyping of orthonormal wavelet transforms on FPGAs. The approach takes advantage of the similarities between the forward and inverse wavelet transform structures to achieve an efficient and suitable partitioning. The designs are captured in both schematic and VHDL capture tools and parameterised in terms of the number of filter taps, data´s and coefficients´ word-lengths, digit size and degree of pipelining. The efficiency of the approach has been verified on the Xilinx 4000 FPGA series
