Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of optimal decoding of delta-sigma modulator output sequences. We introduce the idea of rational cycles and design a novel nonlinear block decoding algorithm for the first-order delta-sigma modulator. We compare the performance of this algorithm with that of a simple linear and a nonlinear decoding scheme and show that the new algorithm outperforms them in almost all situations
