Abstract :
This paper proposes the use of a modified genetic algorithm (Q-GA) for designing phase equalizers using the impulse response symmetry error criterion. Such an algorithm is obtained by systematic division of the search space into subspaces, in which a small population evolves, regarding a reduced number of generations. Examples of phase equalizer designs, for low-pass filters, using the Q-GA are shown and compared for performance with the ones obtained by the DownHill Simplex Method
