Abstract
The minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector, the suboptimal one, takes into account both multiple access interference (MAI) and the background noise, generally provides better probability of error performance than the decorrelating detector. The parallel interference cancellation (PIC) schemes estimates and substracts out all of the MAI for each user in parallel the initial estimates used to be obtained through a matched filter bank or decorrelating detector. We present a combined MMSE-PIC multi-user detector for multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA). The proposed detector is composed of two stages. The first stage is a conventional MMSE detector. The second stage is a PIC detector which is based on the first stage initial estimation. We simulate it by fully adaptive steps. The simulation results are inspiring
