Abstract
A method is proposed to generate photo-realistic 3D models from 2D images. Given a 2D image, we can draw lines with a mouse over interesting parts in the image, and then reconstruct the 3D surface of the line drawing obtained. After mapping the interesting parts of the image onto the surface, we obtain a photo-realistic 3D object. The key issues in our method are how to find the face configuration of a line drawing and how to derive the 3D coordinates of the vertices in the drawing. Our algorithm is especially appropriate for displaying products for e-commerce on the Internet
