Abstract :
We present an optical gain equalization approach using all-optical liquid-crystal devices and the harmonic synthesis approach. The functionality of optical harmonic equalizers (OHEs) is to dynamically adjust the gain profiles of optical amplifiers (EDFAs) by generating required transfer functions with a series of variable harmonic filters.
