Abstract :
A novel antenna for mobile satellite communications has been presented. The Easy, Low cost, Effective, low SAR (ELES) antenna with a ground plane has a fractional bandwidth, defined by the input impedance, radiation pattern or axial ratio specifications of better than 20%. Since the ELES antenna consists essentially of two bent dipoles oriented orthogonal to each other, it can be applied for both satellite mobile terminals and for compact terrestrial base stations which require polarisation diversity. Simulation results using the transmission line method (TLM) are presented and compared with measurement results, demonstrating good efficiency in the application
