Abstract :
Silica-on-Si waveguides with a higher core-to-cladding index contrast can provide high-density and low-cost optical devices for photonic networks. This paper reviews recent progress on these devices focusing on arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) and lattice-type filters.
