Abstract
We present a comparison of CRZ, RZ and NRZ modulation formats in a 64 /spl times/ 12.3 Gb/s WDM transmission experiment up to 9000 km. We show that CRZ exhibits the strongest resistance to nonlinear propagation effects and is thus the most suitable format for high-capacity long-haul WDM systems.
