Abstract :
Transmission of 640 Gbit/s over 7000 km in a circulating loop experiment is achieved using all undersea qualified component and transmission fiber technology. We demonstrate an average system margin >5 dB, adequate to ensure the manufacturability of the system, employing 28 nm EDFA design, chirped return-to-zero (CRZ) modulation format, and a strong foward error correction (FEC) coding.
