Abstract
With the evolution of power semiconductor device technology, static high frequency switched mode power converters and inverters are now being realized. In the field of high-frequency switching power converters, the pulse width modulation (PWM) technique is widely used, but this technique has the problem of appearance of noise peaks at whole switching frequency numbers. This is a disadvantage from the view of reducing EMI noise. In this paper, to counter the disadvantage of conventional modulation techniques, the authors propose a novel delta-sigma modulation power converter applying the pulse space modulation technique. Adopting the proposed technique, the converter has the ability of power factor correction (PFC) and spread spectrum characteristics simultaneously
