Abstract
This paper presents a study on the high performance speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor for a computerised tomography (CT) application. In a CT system, many units are on the equipment gantry, such as X-ray tube system, detector, heat exchanger and data acquisition system. Therefore. to balance many components which have different weights is difficult; this is an inescapable problem in all CT systems. In this paper, to promote speed performance against eccentric load, a vector control algorithm with load torque observer has been presented. Through experimental results, it is verified that the CT drive system with load torque observer has high performance speed regulation ability
