Abstract
Over the past two years, DARPA´s Information Assurance program has employed an approach which is unique for a computer science-based effort: a paradigm of experimentation has been used to identify, pursue, and investigate key issues in the development of an integrated approach to assurance for information systems. This paper describes the motivation for the experimental approach, how that approach was applied, strengths and weaknesses of the approach, and provides some example results
