Abstract
Space-time coding is an efficient technique to exploit transmitting and receiving diversities for wireless channels. One of the key components in the design of receivers for space-time codes is channel estimation. For the block codes based on orthogonal design proposed by Alamouti and Tarokh (see IEEE Trans. on Information Theory, vol45, no.5, p.1456-67, 1999), a new class of pilot assisted channel estimation schemes are presented where pilot symbols are superimposed on the data symbols. Placement strategies are examined for their efficiency in channel estimation and data transmission
