Abstract :
In mobile communications, there exists increasing demand to develop small sized mobile terminals with the ability to operate more flexibly in different systems. In this paper, we examine the requirements for wideband bandpass sampling, which is seen as an important tool together with multirate signal processing, in implementing more flexible devices. We consider the case, where sampling is done straight away at a high IF frequency. It is shown how the requirements for quantization and jitter noise depend in the GSM case on the bandwidth and filter type of the analog front-end, as well as on the sampling rate
