Abstract
We propose a joint PN phase and carrier phase acquisition scheme by using a new auxiliary sequence for a DS/SS system. The auxiliary sequence helps provide the direction for each update of the local PN code phase and carrier phase adjustment. Performance of the proposed scheme is obtained by simulation and compared with a previously proposed joint PN phase and carrier phase acquisition scheme and the conventional serial search scheme. Results show that the proposed scheme acquires the PN phase faster than the other schemes, at the cost of a modest increase in hardware
