Abstract :
Activity of the Laboratoire de Sedimentologie Marine concerns the marine environments and paleoenvironments on coastal and deep marine domains. This activity, implies a qualitative and quantitative approaches of the sedimentary input, their transfer and evolution in their areas of deposition involving the determination of the factors which control the accumulation and transformation of the particulate material. The exchanges at the continent/ocean interface are studied through the coastal environments during the Quaternary and presently. The evaluation of the sedimentary fluxes is obtained by a hydrodynamic and biogeochemical analysis along the shelf-slope-basin continuum. In the deep-sea environments, morphostructural studies are aimed to estimate the geometry distribution and internal structure of the sedimentary body. Experimental modeling is used to appreciate the role of gravity processes in the building of deep sea sedimentary accumulations
