  • Abstract
The issue of food safety is in the forefront of the public consciousness. Recent events of food-borne diseases, resulting in product recalls, illness, and even death, have forced this issue into the spotlight. There is a proven and safe technology that could eliminate many of these concerns; it is known as food irradiation. Food irradiation has proven to be effective and safe, with well over 25 years of scientific study. Recent studies show that the public´s reluctance to use irradiated food is steadily shrinking
