Abstract :
In general, this paper is about the implementation of standard interface specifications in the use of distributed software component technology (e.g. CORBA). In particular, the paper reports on experience with one interface in particular, namely the implementation of the Clinical Observation Access Service (COAS). The implementation of such a standard requires, for example, the definition of medical domain templates that define the structure of the “on the wire” data transport between COAS-compliant systems. Most of this paper describes the approach we used in developing such templates
