Abstract
We present simulation results for switching point allocation for time division duplex (TDD) in UMTS. The simulations are based on independent traffic streams consisting of a mixture of six different traffic profiles of circuit-switched and packet-oriented data chosen in accordance with UMTS Forum report no. 6. The traffic streams are dimensioned in such a way that they represent a realistic traffic load consisting of symmetric and asymmetric traffic profiles. We observe that the switching point in two neighboring cells overlap in only a few cases. The distribution of overlapping time slots is used for discussing different switching point allocation strategies
