  • Abstract
We evaluate analytically the performance of fractional channel reservation for high-rate traffic calls prioritization in TDMA and CDMA integrated services networks. We assume that low-rate traffic calls require one basic rate channel and high-rate traffic calls require m basic rate channels. In the TDMA systems, m is an integer number and in the CDMA systems, m is a real one. We employ a multidimensional birth and death process to find the statistical-equilibrium probabilities of the system. Our analytical results agree perfectly with simulation results and show that the use of fractional channel reservation can yield up to 7% capacity increase
