Abstract
An uplink admission control algorithm for WCDMA base stations equipped with antenna arrays is presented. Conventional beamforming is used as a combining method. In order to capture the azimuth-dependent interference scenario, and take advantage of the spatial filtering properties of antenna arrays, an azimuth measure of load is defined. For each azimuth direction, the load is defined as the amount of received power
