Abstract :
The capacity of a DS-CDMA system is limited by multiple access interference (MAI). In order to suppress MAI effectively, a receiver integrating an adaptive array antenna and a successive MAI canceller has been proposed. In this paper, the performance of the receiver to analyzed which consists of a circular antenna array and a serial/parallel canceller by computer simulations. Substantial performance improvement is confirmed by combining an antenna array and an MAI canceller. Further improvement is observed by increasing the number of RAKE fingers used in the MAI canceller part. In addition, to prevent undesirable antenna beam forming for the dominant paths contributing to RAKE combining, these paths are excluded in advance from the signals used for generating antenna weights. This is shown to be effective in the higher Eb/N0 region
