Abstract :
In the updated WCDMA standard, the open loop downlink transmit diversity employs a space-time block coding-based transmit diversity (STTD). This paper presents a RAKE receiver using a single receiver antenna to support the WCDMA systems adopting STTD. Analytic and simulation results show that the proposed receiver provides considerable performance gains against Rayleigh fading at pedestrian and vehicular speeds. In addition, the effects of channel estimation errors on the performance of the RAKE receiver are evaluated
