Abstract
An optimal closed-loop power control scheme is proposed for CDMA systems based on joint minimization of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) error and mobile transmission power. The resulted scheme is more flexible than minimization of SIR error only in the sense that it provides a tradeoff between service quality and mobile power consumption. The state-of-the-art of this power control algorithm is that the power evolution is directly driven by the SIR error. The proposed controller is an estimator based controller. An H∞ filter is used to estimate and predict the channel quality. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed optimal power control scheme
