Abstract :
The present work is aimed at investigating the zonal eigenmode spectrum in a boundless semiconductor-dielectric periodic structure. The configuration is considered in which the direction of periodicity coincides with that of the magnetic field vector (z-axis), and both are perpendicular to the layer surface (the xy-plane), while the wave propagates at an angle to the magnetic field. Compared with the above mentioned problems, the present method does not allow separation of field components in the Maxwell equations for the eigenmodes of the gyrotropic medium. The medium eigenmodes are elliptically polarized and each of them involves all six components of the electromagnetic field
