Carries out a survey of basic results during a development of diffraction electronics by the Kharkov school under the guidance of V.P. Shestopalov. Formulates the problems of diffraction electronics and the possible ways of their resolution. Covers the Smith-Purcell effect, diffraction radiation generator (continuous excitation), reflecting diffraction radiation generator and some new problems
