Abstract
In the present article a modified beam-forming network (BFN) for quasioptical multibeam antennas is considered. We propose adding an array of coupled lines with fixed phase shifters to an array of insulated lines. The feed radiation pattern strives for a rectangular form due to these additional elements. As will be demonstrated, such a radiation pattern shape provides maximum optical system aperture efficiency without power spillage over its borders. At the same time the array period is rather small, to provide for the crossing of neighboring radiation patterns on the half-power level. One format for realizing BFN of multibeam antennas is based on a dielectric slotted waveguide (DSW) array. DSW has a low attenuation constant in comparison with the other transmission lines in millimeter waves
