Abstract
In this paper, we propose a structure of a multichannel downstream receiver supporting four downstream channel bonding in hybrid fiber coax (HFC) networks. In addition, we show the implementation and measurement results. The structure we prupose and implement consists of a radio frequency (RF) tuner and multichannel downstream receiver, which consists of a digital filter bank and four downstream demodulators. Λ downstream demodulator is comprised of a pre-forward error correction (pre-FEC) and FEC decoder. We simulate a bit error rate (BER) of the pre-FEC with a fixed precision. The simulation results show that the required Eb/N0 is 18 dB when the BER of 64QAM is 10-5 and the required Eb/N0 is 23 dB when the BER of 256QAM is 10-5, The proposed multichannel downstream receiver is implemented with field programmable gate array (FPGA) and ASIC using (1.18 μm CMOS technology with a supply voltage of 1.8 V.
