  • Abstract
    Contact resistance of Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) bus conductor would increase and overheat itself in long-term operation. This paper established mathematical model to figure out temperature distribution of 4kA single-phase GIS bus. Power loss in electromagnetic field was calculated and indirectly coupled to temperature and flow field. Calculation result showed that the temperature distribution was symmetric like a butterfly and highest temperature of the enclosure was on the top, while the lowest was at the bottom. Agreement between the simulation result and experiment data verified the accuracy of calculation. At the end of the paper, different contact resistances of bus conductor, as simulated failure, were assumed to estimate temperature change on the surface of the enclosure.
