Abstract
According to China´s eight major economic regions of inland areas, This paper conducts a decomposition research of China´s regional energy intensity between 1997 and 2007, from the perspective of regional differences with AVD1 decomposition method, points out that China´s energy intensity maintains a downward trend, decline of 28.42% between 1997 and 2007, of which the regional efficiency factor is the main reason. Northeast, Southwest, Middle Yellow River Region and Greater Beijing take the major contribution to energy intensity decline; the contribution rate reaches 70.87%. While the Northwest and the Middle Yangtze River Region has great energy saving potential. Especially the northwest region should be the key area of energy-saving policy implementation.
