The Status and Development Strategies of the Tourism Industry in the Four Border Provinces in Northwest Vietnam

Border Tourism is an important way to promote economic and social development in border areas, has importantly positive significance on maintaining the peace and national security in border areas. This paper analyzes the current situations of tourism in the four border provinces in North-West Vietnam, sums up the problems on the blocked traffic, poor tourism accessibility, backward management, insufficient government policy support, underdeveloped border advantages with the tourism in the four border provinces, gives advices on making unified tourism development planning, strengthening the development of innovative tourism products, making changes from the general tourism market to the special tourism market and simplifying visa procedures to better develop tourism in this region.
