Abstract :
On the basis of the angle of repose model for uniform sediment, the pickup probability of uniform sediment is theoretically studied. By comparing present model with experimental data, the unknown function in the pickup probability is derived. Once the incipient probability is built, the incipient velocity can be determined. Finally, the formula of incipient velocity has been tested against a wide range of laboratory data and the prediction by the newly proposed formula is very good.
