Abstract :
The paper is based on the concept of intra-product specialization and intra-product trade to discuss the competitiveness of industries in Shenzhen. With the measurement VS and VSS initiated by Hummels (2001), we analyzed the degree of international intra-product trade Shenzhen participated in according to the customs data from Chinese Customs Database and Shenzhen Customs Database. The paper also analyzes the degree vertical specialization contributing to productivity in different industries with the Industries Enterprise Database and comes out with specific conclusions and advises for policy implications.
