  • Abstract
    Prof. Fatma Abou-Chadi from Mansoura University in Egypt is the winner of the 2013 Clementina Saduwa award. Abou-Chadi received the recognition for her groundbreaking work in biomedical signal processing in Egypt and for her efforts to get more Egyptian women into biomedical engineering research. Abou-Chadi was the first Egyptian female engineer to earn a Ph.D. degree from Imperial College, London, in the field of biomedical signal processing, and she established the first research team in an Egyptian university led by a woman in biomedical signal processing. She was the first female engineering faculty member to become the dean of computers and information sciences at Mansoura University. Additionally, Abou-Chadi established a new bachelor?s of science degree at Mansoura University, the communications and information engineering program.
