This issue marks the first issue of the 62nd year of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering . We areworking hard to keep improving the impact and quality of TBME. In 2015, we will continue to promote creativity and innovation and welcome contributions of excellent science that integrates engineering, medicine, and biology. TBME has been ranked in the top 7 among more than 170 biomedical engineering journals according to the H-index. Based on the most recent IEEE Submission-to-ePublication Report, TBME was ranked in the top 20% among 123 IEEE publications. In the last 12 months, TBME received 2066 submissions from 66 countries. For regular papers, the average time from submission to first decision was 30 days. The overall acceptance rate was 20.32%. In 2014, the TBME website continued to provide exciting feature stories, interesting Research Highlights, useful conference information, guidelines, and tools. To increase the journal´s awareness, TBMEMonthly Research Highlights has been distributed broadly to the biomedical engineering community. TBME was one of the first journals devoted to biomedical engineering. To celebrate the journal´s 60th anniversary, TBME invited 20 leading research groups to contribute to the 60th Anniversary Special Issue (Volume 61, Issue 5). This special issue reviewed the state of the art and trends in biomedical engineering research and outlined the role that TBME has played in Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/TBME.2014.2371131 advancing the field over the past 60 years.
